~ About Me ~
Massage Education:
I graduated from the Brian Utting School of Massage (BUSM) in Seattle. BUSM was a fertile place for growth and learning not only because of the demanding curriculum, but because of the community that the staff built with their students - which created a comfortable and rewarding place to blossom and expand our knowledge of the healing arts. The 1,000 hour COMTA accredited class time was twice the amount required for the state so, by the time that we graduated, we were firmly rooted in technique and academic knowledge. Our curriculum included anatomy/physiology, pathology, postural assessment, hydrotherapy, charting, communication skills, and cadaver labs at Basytr.
In addition to our technique practicals in class, we were required to participate in independent hands-on practice outside of class; of which I clocked over 450 hours.
We were also required to participate in a Student Clinic, where we massaged paying clients under the professional supervision of the staff. I was hired on as a receptionist/scheduler there, so it was fun and insightful to get a multi-dimensional view of the going ons of a busy massage practice.
I have also volunteered my services for Cancer Relay for Life, Tsunami Relief in China, and participated in an extended internship with Dr. David Vlasuk, a Bellevue cranial specialist chiropractor. For eight months, I supported Dr. Vlasuk's clients, gaining experience working with a variety of issues ranging from fibromyalgia, to post traumatic stress disorder, to disc degeneration. I found it incredibly exciting and rewarding to make a noticeable difference in the lives of people struggling with chronic pain and psychological issues surrounding touch and safety.

Personal Blurb:
Native to Washington, I live in Seattle with my sweetie and my dog. My interests include visual and literary art, music, hiking, and baking.
On the long, windy road that lead me to massage, I have had previous lives in child care, photographic development, education, and administration, to name a few; and I am incredibly grateful to have arrived at a place where I am able to incorporate so many of my interests, skills, and values to help people.
